TELCO INFRASTRUCTURES

Since its foundation in 1921, the telecommunications market has been Sirti’s core business.

Managed Service

Fixed Networks

Radio-mobile Networks

Broadcast Networks

Thanks to decades of experience in the construction, maintenance and management of technological infrastructures in the telco, energy and transport world, Sirti now possesses unique multidisciplinary know-how in the Italian panorama which make it the ideal company for involving in large projects on a “country-wide” scale. From this know-how and in-depth knowledge of the area comes a transversal vision that enables the design and construction of infrastructures based on a “multi-service” approach. In fact, Sirti’s plans are optimised to maximise the use of existing infrastructures (telco networks, energy networks, transport, sewerage networks, water networks, district heating etc.), ensuring that implementation costs are reduced and that they are fully reliable and maintainable over time. This across-the-board expertise, highly regarded by customers, gives Sirti a competitive edge, elevating it above the competition.

FIXED NETWORKS

Now more than in the past, Sirti acts as a reference point for the homogeneous and widespread dissemination of technology in our country, with a constant commitment to innovation, sustainability and the quality of the services proposed.

For all phases of design, construction, delivery and maintenance of transport and access networks, Sirti adopts innovative solutions to prepare modern FTTC/FTTH (Fibre To The Cabinet and Fibre To The Home) network infrastructures, where the use of an increasingly higher number of fibre cables and dedicated accessories is required.

Sirti proposes turnkey solutions, handling all the process, design, construction and delivery phases, through to the management and maintenance of the network.

Methods and Instruments

Network design, construction, integration and management is performed using highly innovative techniques and materials, which ensure a low environmental impact and considerable investment cost savings for our customers. Through the entire network construction process, Sirti uses a range of innovative instruments, including Working+ and One Day Dig. Thanks to the use of innovative platforms that can be integrated with those of the customer, process management can be optimised by monitoring any phase of the network construction cycle in real-time.

Workforce management

900.000 maintenance operations in the year and 500.000 installations performed for private users. Activities in the field are managed using sophisticated tools which guarantee performance effectiveness and quality. The planning team schedules the works based on implementation priorities, contractual SLAs and the minimisation of relocation. Therefore the technicians see the activity planning on their tablets, where they can pinpoint, via geo-location, the position of an activity and verify the progress of the works in real-time, including remotely, by promptly taking action in the event of anomalies or deviations with respect to the scheduled plan.

Innovative digging techniques

In addition to the use of traditional digging, Sirti proposes innovative, low environmental impact techniques such as the mini trench, micro trench and no-dig technologies. In line with this approach, Sirti has conceived and designed OneDayDig, a new digging solution which, thanks to the coordinated efforts of technologies developed ad hoc, allows completion times to be reduced, quickly making the roadway fit for use again and minimising the impact on the community.

Localisation and subsoil surveying

Sirti uses Georadar for the localisation of sub-services and identification of faults, which allows a non-invasive survey of the subsoil and of the services. The data are geo-referenced; in fact, through on-board GPS, it is possible to detect the position of the radar trace needed to generate CAD files and geo-referenced maps that can be explored on Google Maps. By detecting underground infrastructures in real-time, the use of Georadar reduces malfunctions linked to sites.

RADIO-MOBILE NETWORKS

With the growth in audio and video streaming services, there is a corresponding demand for speed for downloading content from the network. Estimates and forecasts suggest that, within a few years, 97% of traffic will pass through mobile devices and that we are on the cusp of the wearable technology era, which will require bandwidth and speed. Technologies like 5G and Wi-Fi will help to meet the demand for increasingly more hi-tech services.
Market Trends
Has always supported mobile operators with the development of infrastructures with its expertise and experience. As with fixed and digital terrestrial networks, Sirti adopts innovative instruments for all activities, from the design of networks, to their maintenance.

Sirti is able to manage the End-to-End process in the construction of Radio Access Networks, complete with both Radio Link and Fibre Optic transport networks, regardless of the Technology Provider and with turnkey solutions.

  • GSM, UMTS, HSPA networks

  • New generation LTE networks

  • GSM-R networks (Rail sector)

  • TETRA networks

  • WiMAX networks

  • WLL access and radio link systems

  • Systems for wireless access over unlicensed band (Wi-Fi)

Focus on GSM-R rail networks

Sirti boasts an out and out leading position in the design and construction of systems for the circulation of radio signals inside complex infrastructures, such as motorway tunnels, railways, undergrounds and rail GSM-R.

Sirti has contributed to the definition of a wireless communication standard in the rail domain. This is a data and voice transmission system which allows on-board personnel to communicate with the ground through dedicated channels, implemented by Sirti on the High-Speed Lines in Italy. The GSM-R mobile telephony network (where R stands for Railway) broadcasts over the band of frequencies in the 900 MHz range reserved for rail activities in Europe. In particular, the GSM-R network is used by the traffic signalling and control system based on the European ERTMS standard, also developed to ensure the safe flow of traffic between the rail networks of the different European countries that have the same technology. The coverage extends to over 10,600 km of national rail lines.

Radio Planning

Radio Frequency Design know-how and specific skills allow the planning of 2G-3G-4G LTE, Small Cells, Microwave and Wi-Fi technologies.

Permit presentation and obtainment

The widespread regional distribution and in-depth knowledge of the local area and of the legislation allows Sirti to interact with the administrative authorities in an optimal and direct fashion.

Site preparation

Sirti takes responsibility for all technological aspects regarding the new installation and upgrades of existing ones, performs civil works, sets the dimensions of the HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) systems and the metallic antenna port infrastructures.

Network optimisation

Sirti is able to analyse the quality of the service provided to the user, supported by verification measurements of the radio-mobile coverage, and to propose network optimisation based on the results obtained.

Maintenance services

Sirti easily manages the corrective first and second level maintenance, the preventive and developmental maintenance, both of technological infrastructures and TLC equipment.

Installation, testing and integration of TLC equipment and antenna systems

Sirti has various teams of installers and test technicians at its disposal, distributed throughout Italy, in order to also support the more challenging activation plans.

BROADCAST NETWORKS

Digital Terrestrial Television system (DTT)

As regards networks for the transmission of digital video signals, Sirti is able to offer complete solutions and services which range from the implementation of the contribution network, to the implementation, optimisation and planning of the transport network and of the network for the circulation of TV signals to the end user.
