Sirti for the digitisation of the cultural heritage of the city of Rome

10 May 2022

Sirti is working alongside the Superintendency for the Cultural Heritage of Rome on the digitisation of the artworks in the museums in the City of Rome.

Milan, 10 May 2022 – Sirti S.p.A., an innovation hub in the development of network infrastructures, is the technological partner of the Superintendency for the Cultural Heritage of Rome for the digitisation of the artistic heritage of the City of Rome.

Sirti Digital Solutions, in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura, is assisting the Superintendency for the Cultural Heritage of Rome in the development of SIMART (Information System of the Museums, Art and Architecture of Rome and the Rome Area), designed to catalogue and manage the cultural, monumental and territorial assets belonging to the City of Rome. To date, some 500,000 files on assets have been entered into the database thanks to this project, belonging to 33 different museums, collections, archives and monuments throughout the area.

SimartWeb (http://www.simart.comune.roma.it/) is a recently launched portal that allows the public at large to find out more about artistic heritage, offering a simple, modern user experience. The website, created with Open Source platforms, is integrated with the SIMART database, through a selection WorkFlow.

Alongside this result, Sirti has been able to confirm its commitment to the evolutive maintenance of the SIMART version for internal use, after being awarded the contract for the development of the project again this year. Sirti has been working since 2019 on analysis and planning to improve the SIMART modules dedicated to the integrated management of both indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces, using the most advanced IoT technologies.

SIMART is a significant example of the use of network infrastructures, and this project illustrates one aspect of the major potential offered by digitisation”, explained Gianni Sannino, Sirti Group’s Head of IT Operations. “it is an important repository of catalogue files of a complex heritage, functional to the efficient management and use of the artistic content. The system integrator capacity of Digital Solutions allows us to handle the complexity of the project. This is a tangible example of the undisputed value of technology for the benefit of the community”.
